Creative Network Steering Group needed – call for nominations

The Creative Lewisham Agency is pleased to announce that Michael Klein has been appointed as the new Creative network Co-ordinator. He will be responsible for building the Network and will be contacting many of you over the coming weeks. If you would like to have a chat with him, please feel free to call him at the CLA offices on 020 8691 6729 or email him on Michael@creativehub.org.uk.

One of his priorities is to set up a Steering Group for the Network which will be responsible for policy consultation, developing and managing the sector subcommittees, and acting as a consultation forum for the creative industries in Lewisham and Greenwich, amongst other things.

To this end, we would like to invite you to nominate yourself or someone else to be a part of the Deptford / Greenwich Creative Hub Steering Group (formerly called the Goal Setting and Policy Group). The Steering Group will consist of 29 individuals selected by their peers in an open election, and 29 organisations which are appointed by the Creative Lewisham Agency.

For more information about the Steering Group, please go to http://www.creativelewishamagency.org.uk/documents/SteeringGroupMap.pdf

You should feel free to nominate yourself or any other individual who you think would be able to contribute to the growth of the Deptford / Greenwich Creative Hub. We are seeking a diversity of interests, skills, backgrounds and professional experience.

Nominations for the Steering Group will close on the 11th of July. Please email or mail your nominations to the following:

Announcing Hub Status
Jan 2006

We are now officially a Creative Hub.

The Deptford / Greenwich Creative Hub Investment Plan, to which many partners contributed, has been accepted by Creative London / London Development Agency and by Greater London Economics.

We are one of only two Creative Hubs in London to get this far, (the other being Paddington/ Westside led by Paddington Development Trust). As such, we now qualify as a strategic partner of the LDA, delivering under the Creative London agenda.

We are still negotiating the finer details with Creative London and the London Development Agency, and for the reason, we have postponed the Creative Hub/Creative Network meeting on 24th January.

We hope to have more conclusive news for you by late February, when we will reschedule the meeting. Should you have any questions on the Hub, please contact Andrew Carmichael or Brigid Martin on info@creativehub.org.uk

THE INVESTMENT PLAN

The Creative Lewisham Agency has submitted a five year Investment Plan to Creative London. This document was written by the Agency with input from the creative sector in Deptford and Greenwich.

Prior to this, the Agency produced a framework document that was used as a basis for the consultation process. The Investment Plan supercedes this document, although they should be read in conjunction with each other.

Three years ago, the Creative Lewisham Agency came into being, set up on the recommendation of the Lewisham Culture and Urban Development Commission, chaired by Charles Landry. A report on creativity in Lewisham was published with a set of recommendations on how to support and grow the creative sector in the London Borough of Lewisham.

The work of the Creative Lewisham Agency is based on the strategy in these three documents. For further information, please email info@creativehub.org.uk
