The Agency is currently managing a research partnership looking at the
availability of broadband internet provision for SME’s as well as
links to the borough’s educational establishments. The partnership
aims to give local ICT based SMEs a competitive advantage by using aggregation
of demand to bring about faster and cheaper roll out of ADSL services
in the local area, as well as finding new collaborative uses for that
technology.
Clusters - protect and develop
One of the strengths
of the borough as identified in the report is the density and quality
of Creative Sector clusters in the borough. The Cluster round Deptford
and New Cross being the most significant. The agency, mainly through a
soon to be appointed Creative Enterprise Zone Manager, is working to strengthen
and protect the existing cluster as well as market it as a destination
for cultural tourism.
