Themes and Aims

The Agency’s work is divided across four strategic areas and addresses the four aims listed below- (these aims are parallel and complementary to the aims laid out in the boroughs Cultural Strategy).

Economic regeneration
To contribute to the economic regeneration of the borough by maximising the economic potential of the existing cluster of creative sector enterprises as well as attracting the relocation of complementary enterprises into the borough.
To increase the number of creative sector start-ups in the borough and develop structures that will enhance their viability and survival rate.
To identify and bring forward important infrastructural improvements.

Quality of the Urban Realm
To affect and influence the innovative improvement and development of the urban fabric of Lewisham by involving the resources of the creative sector as fully as possible in all schemes and projects.

Training and Education
To develop schemes and partnerships that help train and equip residents to take the fullest advantages of the opportunities, both paid and vocational offered by the creative sector in the borough.

Cultural development
To aid and help develop projects and partnerships that combat social exclusion and enhance opportunities for residents to take part in, and develop personally, through involvement with cultural activities.

The agency acknowledges that these are all areas in which the Council, statutory organisations and the voluntary sector are all currently active in. The working method of the agency is to seek out new opportunities, strengthen current partnerships and add value to current work.
